Student Performance & Competitions
ALL PERFORMANCE + COMPETITION OPPORTUNITIES ARE OPTIONAL, but encouraged for Musical Growth.
The Hannah E. Adhikari Piano Studio is Affiliated with MTNA and NFMC offering piano solo and other music related competitions available to her studio. Students elligible for these Federations will be up to the Discretion of the Teacher. Read the Piano Solo Participation PDF for more. Students/Parents are Responsible for any Fees or Travel Costs involved.
1.) Student Recitals or Extra Performance:
- Dates/Times will be privately distributed to The Hannah E. Adhikari Studio.
- Recitals are for ALL of Hannah's Piano Students: Children - Adult Students!
- Sometimes Student Saturdays include extra performance opportunities for Students. Dates/Times will be privately distributed.
2.) General Piano Solo Participation Outside of Recitals:
- Students at Level 2+ are eligible for piano solo opportunities in my studio. (I use my own curriculum and level system: CLICK HERE )
- What is included and required of my Students who participate in piano solo? (CLICK HERE )
- If the Student does not meet requirements of an AM Level of 2, but parents still wish for them to participate, please discuss it with the Teacher.
3.) NFMC Federated Festival
- Each of my Students from age 5-19 are REQUIRED to take the Federated Festival Theory Exam once per year with a Fee of $15.

- Federated Festival also has Piano Solo Evaluations available. These are NOT competitions, and are used for the Student's benefit.
- Extra Categories are Available for the Festival. They will each add an extra $5 to the current Festival Fee: Piano Solo, Popular Piano, One-Hand Piano Solo, Sacred Piano Solo, Hymn Playing, Sightreading, & More!
4.) District Evaluations through MMTA:
- MMTA offers Piano Solo, Technique, Theory, and Sightreading Evaluations for Students. This IS a Competition, and if the Student places 1st-3rd in their grade, they're elligble to play in local, statewide, and national performances.
- Students who are interested in becoming performers or have career or college plans in music, are encouraged to participate in MMTA!
- MMTA Competition Fees are listed below. The most common Category is the Performance and Sightreading categories.
- Along with the required MMTA fee of $25, you can determine how much you will need to pay, according to the categories you enter.
MMTA Division Categories:
Solo Performance $15
The Student will Perform in the Solo Performance Division
according to their current grade level.
Preparation of 3 Memorized piano pieces will be included. The Student entering must be Willing and Able to Practice & Memorize their Repertoire.
Solo Performance of Sonata/Sonatina $15
The Student will Perform a Baroque, Classical, or Contemporary Sonata/Sonatina in front of Judges by Memory. Repertoire will be Chosen by the Piano Teacher.
Solo Sightreading $15
The Student will Perform in the Solo Performance Division
according to their current grade level.
Preparation of 3 Memorized piano pieces will be included. The Student entering must be Willing and Able to Practice & Memorize their Repertoire.
Performance of Piano Concerto $15
The Student will Perform a Baroque, Classical, or Contemporary Concerto in front of Judges by Memory. Repertoire will be Chosen by the Piano Teacher.
Solo Performance of Theme & Variations $15
The Student will Perform a Baroque, Classical, or Contemporary Theme & Variations in front of Judges by Memory. Repertoire will be Chosen by the Piano Teacher.
Four Basics Package $25
The Student will Perform in the Solo Performance Division, Sightreading, Technical Skills, & Written Theory Test
according to their current grade level.
Preparation will be extensive. The Student entering must be Willing and Able to Practice & Memorize their Repertoire.
5.) MTNA National Solo Piano Performance Competition can be made available to the Student.
6.) NFMC or MTNA National Composition Competitions are made available to ANY LEVEL Student.
7.) NFMC or MTNA National Music Creative Writing Competitions are made available to ANY LEVEL Student.
