Hannah E. Adhikari is a pianist and composer, currently on teaching sabbatical, leading her Build Your Studio campaign and serving in MMTA leadership.
Hannah's Credentials & Experience:
Hannah has been a member of multiple teacher and musician associations. since 2019. She is most highly associated with the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA) and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC). She is the Chair of IMTF and Vice President to Web Management for her state chapter, MMTA, from Dec. 2024 to present. Her private piano studio grew to 40+ students while she taught in Columbus, MS, from June of 2015 to October 2025. She is currently on a teaching sabbatical (2025-present), though when she is teaching, she wholly invests in her Students through private recitals, semesterly evaluations, yearly theory exams, and competitions. As a composer, since the age of 11, Hannah uses her skills to tailor her piano solos to the new age style, honing in on emotional playing, melodies, and forms. For her instructional piano materials, she desires the music to invoke critical thinking and expressive playing in a clear concise way for both children and adults at every level. Her piano studies, materials, and method books, are for sale digitally on SheetMusicPlus and physically on Amazon. She also writes instructional or recreational music upon commission.
Her online presence is just as crucial, as Hannah devotes her time to sharing her origianl music and materials on her online accounts. She shares ways other piano teachers can build their studio through her Build Your Studio campaign. She has countless years of experience as a church pianist from age 9, playing and singing specials, to age 15 where she became the official church pianinst of her church for almost 12 years. She has experience as a collaborative pianist playing for singers, weddings, instrumentalists, and choir and chamber groups from age 16 to present, and also accompanied the Junior Columbus Girl Choir for 2 seasons from 2020-2021. All of her experiences as a musician and as a teacher have given her even more purpose to share to the world what it means to really love and pursue life as a musician! She says, "God speaks to me in music, and shares His Truth to me in melodies. If I can just share a piece of that Truth and Love to someone who needs it, then I consider what I do, worth it all."

Hannah's Musical Background
From the moment Hannah heard Beethoven's "Fur Elise," at age 8, she desired to play the piano. Coming from a family of 7 children, she felt extrememly grateful to continue piano lessons, festivals, competitions, and performances from age 8 through highschool. She first studied piano for one year with Terry Gehr, until 2009, when she began studying with Lisa Harpole Heath until her high school graduation in 2018. Hannah devotes her love for teaching and music to her late teacher and mentor, Mrs. Lisa. She says, "She often called me her 'mini me' during highschool. We bonded deeply over our shared love for music. I had so much respect for her. She was never cross with me, though times called for a firm hand. I think her joy over just listening to me play was what inspired me to put my whole heart into music. She pushed me to play for church, play in Festivals, recitals... I owe all I am in music to her foundations she instilled in me. She passed away in 2021 during thee covid pandemic. I miss her even to this day! She was my 'Musical Momma.'" During her highschool years, Hannah was actively involved in Piano Competitions, Summer Music Camps, Recitals, and Church Performances. At 15 years old, she became the church pianist for Calvary Baptist Church in 2015 where she served as pianist unitl 2026. Upon graduation of highschool, she then studied piano under Dr. Julia Mortyakova for 4 years in her undergraduate studies. Hannah is now a Full-Time Pianist, Composer, & Piano Teacher residing in Mississippi.
In 2018, Hannah was accepted into the music department at the Mississippi University for Women (MUW) in Columbus, MS and studied piano with Dr. Julia Mortyakova (2018-2022). She graduated at the MUW in May of 2022 with a B.A. in piano performance and a focus in composition. She was a regularly performing pianist at the MUW, and she performed in countless NACUSA, Showcase, and Student Recitals. During her college years, Hannah also began building her student base in Columbus, MS. She went from 0 to 25+ students once she graduated college! Even after her college graduation, Hannah continues to perform regularly at her Student's piano recitals, local nursing homes, composition performances, and posts her playing on her online accounts and social media. She was often invited by the professors at the MUW to perform at local cpncerts during her 4 years in Columbus, MS. also shares a YouTube Channel: B&H Music with her husband, Biraj Adhikari. She has her music streaming for free on most music platforms.
Community Service
Hannah performs piano hymns, compositions, and other music for her local banks and nursing homes as a community service in music. Sometimes her piano Students join her in these performances! She loves sharing the joy of music to those least appreciated or thought of through these avenues.
Hannah Background as a Composer:
Hannah is an award winning composer as well as being a private piano teacher and pianist. Hannah began composing around the age of 11, but pursued composition more professionally from 7th to 12th grade by attending piano camps, competitions, and countless state festivals where composing and theory knowledge was frequently challenged every year. During her undergraduate degree, Hannah received music composition lessons from Dr. Joe L. Alexander & former MMTA president, Dr. Valentin Bogdan, and continues to further her education in music theory and composition. She won 1st place in the MTNA Young Artist State Competition 3 years in a row from 2019-2021, and continues to submit her many compositions in local and national competitions. Most of all. Hannah is passionate about composing method books, materials, and solos for piano teachers and students alike. Her main focus is to create music that instills a love for growth and expression while playing. Hannah is a current active member for the National Association of Composers USA (NACUSA), a member of Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA), and a member of BMI Classical. Hannah especially enjoys performing her piano solo compositions for NACUSA composer concerts or for any local concerts.
Hannah now writes music regularly for herself and for piano Students. She collaborate with and writes for other performers to pursue her love for writing music as well. Though Hannah routinely writes compositions for solo piano or voice, she also enjoys writing for solo or duet instruments as well as chamber or choral groups. Her inspiration for her compositions stems from emotions, relationships, scenery and nature, or any prospect of life. For Hannah, writing music is a way to express herself to the world. For Hannah, music is her way of expressing herself to the world and her way of worship to her Saviour, Jesus Christ. Music is the only language that speaks louder than words can convey, and has an inward way of touching the soul with every note we hear.
